This
course aims at exploring the overlap and constant redefinition of high and low cultures
over three centuries of British history (16th to 18th). A selection of primary
and secondary sources will allow students to study the interaction between
different doctrinal positions, between arts and politics, as well as the impact
of the development of the printing press.
